Cushion Moss Care
Cushion Moss - Leucobryum glaucum
This acrocarpous moss (meaning it grows tight and compact instead of out and up) naturally grows in clumps in woodlands and wetlands. Loved for it fine needle like stems with dense green feather like leaves and low maintenance, it is a common terrarium moss.
Lighting:
Unlike most other mosses, cushion moss thrives in bright, indirect light and cant tolerate some direct light. So indoors in a bright room, grow lights, greenhouses etc are perfect. Yellowing means not enough light.
Humidity:
Like all mosses, cushion moss thrives on humidity in the region of 90%, Perfect for terrariums and still definitely achievable indoors with regularly daily misting.
Substrate: As long as the moisture needs are met, the soil isn’t detrimental. The moss will grow tiny roots to anchor itself at the contact points it touches the substrate.
