Springy Turf Moss Guide

Springy Turf Moss – Rhytidiadelphus squarrosus

This slow-growing moss forms cushion likes mats that are soft to the touch. Named for its ability to bounce back when compressed, it makes great ground cover and home for beneficial creatures like springtails as well as regulate humidity.

Lighting:

Springy Turf moss is commonly found in areas of minimal light exposure, requiring little light to thrive. Brown and brittle moss means to much light, hence why it is found as ground cover in shady forests.

Humidity:

Like all mosses, it enjoys high humidity, regular misting will achieve this. Keep an eye on condensation levels if worried about overwatering in a terrarium.

Substrate:

Often used in gardens and landscaping, the best way to grow this moss is shady moist areas, any soil will do but they prefer slightly acidic, preferring a cooler climate, they can tolerate 10-30 Celsius.
